About Upper Providence Township
In November of 1805, Upper Providence Township was established by
action of the Court of Quarter Sessions of Montgomery County. Upper
Providence is the fifth largest municipality in terms of area with
18.20 square miles. Historically, the township has been highly
agricultural with large family farms. However, over the last decade,
many of the last remaining farms
were sold making way for new diversified, luxury housing with a
country facade.
Upper Providence Township has been one of the fastest growing communities
in Pennsylvania for the last 15 years, now topping a population of
16,000. Located on the western border of Central Montgomery County,
Upper Providence Township retains its small-town ambience contrasted
with the bustle of Philadelphia and the many, multi-faceted
corporate and retail complexes (within a convenient 10 mile radius) located
in Valley Forge/King of Prussia area. Ideally situated, residents of the
township benefit by various employment opportunities (financial,
retail, medical, pharmaceutical…) along with immediate access to
unlimited shopping, dining, entertainment, historical parks and
centers. Additional services, medical needs (physicians &
hospitals), education and recreation are all within minutes to the
area due to the close proximity of several major highways, such as
the Pennsylvania Turnpike, US Route 202 and 422, and Interstate 476
and 76.
